Seth Godin is one of the best business thinkers in the world today, mostly on the marketing side. If you haven't read anything of his or seen him speak, you are missing out.
Tribes is just one of his many books, but it talks about interesting concepts. The summary of the book is that we all want to - and do - belong to tribes or communities. Most of us belong to more than one. For example, you family is one tribe, your workplace is a tribe, your golf buddies are a tribe, etc.
To this end, there are millions of tribes out there. Which means there are millions of opportunities for you to find a place to belong and for your business to fill a need. You don't have to fill the need of every tribe, just enough tribes to be successful. It is hard to find 10 million tribes who want your service, but it isn't that hard to find 100 tribes that want your service.
What I take away is that if you do what you believe is great, you can find tribes out there that agree with you.
