"Not Me"

70% of employees are not engaged at work. 50% of employees don't know what the manager expects from them. Over 50% of people plan on looking for a new job in the next 12 months.

There are all these horrible numbers out there, and no one denies that there are a lot of bad managers and that managers cause these issues. Yet, most managers also hold the "not me" approach.

In other words, there are lots of bad managers, but not me.

A lot of managers who create an environment where employees are not psychologically safe, but not me.

A lot of managers are not clear on what they expect, but not me.

Get the point? It is you. Maybe not in everything, but almost every manager has room to be better. Many have a lot of room to improve.

Stop thinking it is the other person. It isn't.
