I have had great managers and I have had bad managers. I knew I was more engaged, successful, and happier with the good manager. When I talked with others, they all said the same thing.
That is when I made it my mission to make every manager great!
When I first started managing people and teams, I struggled (like a lot of people). I got the promotion because I was good at my current role, but nothing prepared me for managing. I realized, that is why there are so few great managers. They don't get the time to develop or help.
For over 10 years, I learned as much as I could about managing - reading, listening, and trying. My program is based on everything I learned.
Being a great manager doesn't change based on industry or size, it is all in your behaviors and how you treat people. It starts with caring about your employees as people and realizing that everyone wants to do well - no one ever sets out with the goal of failing.
I was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and now live in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. I got my Bachelor's from Marquette University in Milwaukee and my MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. I have over 25 years experience with companies such as Midas, Sears, CD One Price Cleaners, Zenith, and Abbott Laboratories.
These degrees and experiences haven't taught me everything, but they have taught me how to make you a great manager.
